REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former British prime minister Tony Blair visited the office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Friday (19/4/2024). Together with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, he discussed efforts to promote the level of financial inclusiveness, one of them through digitalization.
Minister Airlangga said the adequacy of the resources available to the Tony Blair Institute (TBI) is expected to support the digitization efforts. “We want to encourage that digitalization is inclusive so of course we talk about digital infrastructure regarding data centers, Artificial Intelligent (AI) regulation to cyber security,” Airlangga said in his office on Friday (19/4/2024).
He revealed that the meeting also discussed the energy transition. Especially related to Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETPI), Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC), to efforts to realize energy transition. One of them is through the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in the capital of the archipelago (IKN) which is prepared for 1.2 GigaWatts.
Airlangga and Tony Blair also discussed geopolitical issues that are currently emerging amid global uncertainty. Namely, the current conflict in the Middle East region is considered to be a problem that many countries do not want.
