REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Holding BUMN of the Aviation and Tourism sector, PT Aviasi Pariuri Indonesia (Persero) or known as InJoy, through the sub-holding InJourney Destination Management (IDM), conveyed the readiness of Tourism Park Borobudur Temple in welcoming the celebration of Holy Tri Day Waisak 2568 BE.
InJourney Tourism Marketing & Program Director Maya Watono said that the series of events at Borobudur Temple will take place on May 18-24, 2024, aiming to celebrate interfaith and cultural togetherness. It also presents a spiritual experience for the thousands of Buddhists who will attend.
“Through cross-sector collaboration, we hope to elevate the universal values of Borobudur Temple as a global holistic spiritual center,” Maya said in a statement in Jakarta, Monday (6/5/2024).
Maya said that the series of events is expected to be a momentum to strengthen the position of Borobudur Temple as a Super Priority Tourism Destination.
Furthermore, as a pioneer in the development of spiritual tourism, InJourney will continue to ensure the readiness of infrastructure and other supporting facilities to welcome thousands of Buddhists and enthusiastic visitors.
“Active collaboration with the Central Government, Local Government, religious organizations and communities has been the main focus in ensuring the continuity of the event, which is expected to also have a positive impact on the local economy,” Maya said.
Meanwhile, IDM President Director Febrina Intan said that this year's celebration of Tri Holy Waisak became a symbol of the revival of Borobudur's spiritual values.
“Through a diverse and innovative range of activities, we hope to inspire visitors who attend to feel the depth of spiritual and cultural meaning contained behind the majesty of Borobudur Temple,” Febrina said.
IDM and Walubi jointly organized various supporting events such as Bakti Sosial (Free Medicine), Nyingma Monlam Indonesia, Larung Pelita Purnama Sidhi Festival, Merti Karuna Bumi Festival, Borobudur World Peace & Prosperity Event, Bhumi Mandala Festival, Padmastana Cultural March from Mendut Temple to Borobudur Temple and Mindful Walking Meditation which is to feel the sacredness of Borobudur Temple through pradaxina and meditation.
IDM especially appreciates Bhikkhu Thudong's spiritual journey that will end in Borobudur, including welcoming 40 monks from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Indonesia from Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), followed by the consecration of the Dharma Fire and Water of Blessing.
“At the peak, there will be a flight of 2568 lanterns from the Marga Utama area, followed by the people and the general public,” Febrina said.
The celebration of Waisak at Borobudur Temple is planned to be attended by thousands of followers from three major streams (Mahayana, Theravada, and Tantrayana). Each stream organizes spiritual and cultural events in the Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area of Borobudur Temple.
