The Qur'anic Explanation Of The Rules Of War
Muslims did not start wars first.
REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The war between Hamas and Israeli Zionists continues. As a result, casualties, both dead and injured, continue to fall. And many civilians are the victims.
How does the Koran give rules about fighting? In the book 'Akhlak Nabi Muhammad Saw' by Ahmad Muhammad Al-Hufy, Muslims are forbidden to start wars first. For the Qur'an always commands to abstain from iniquity and hostility.
“The Koran commands Muslims to fight patiently and courageously,” reads part of the book.
Although it is ordered not to start wars, however, the Koran also instructs to prepare if war should occur. The main objective is to defend or defend against enemy attacks.
If there is a war, prepare thoroughly. This is in order to win and neutralize the victims. Quran Surat Al-Anfal verse 60 has ruled to prepare before fighting.
Wa a'iddụ lahum mastaṭa'tum ming quwwatiw wa mir ribāṭil-khaili tur-hibụna bihī 'aduwwallāhi wa 'aduwwakum wa ākharīna min dụnihim, lā ta'lamụnahum, allāhu ya'lamuhum, wa mā tunfiqụ min syai`in fī sabīlillāhi yuwaffa ilaikum wa antum lā tuẓlamụn
“And be prepared to face them whatever strength you are capable of, and from the horses that are put up for battle (which with that preparation) you shake the enemies of Allah, your enemies, and those other than those of whom you do not know; while Allah knows them. Whatever you earn in the way of Allah will surely be sufficiently repaid to you and you will not be wronged. (QS al-anfal:60).
The verse according to the book shows the commandment is far from disturbing others. This is because this verse is in order to defend themselves and so frighten the enemy so that they are afraid to attack.
