Death Toll of Cyclone Seroja NTT Became 165 People

Most of the victims who died from Cyclone Seroja came from East Flores of Indonesia.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA --- In recent times, Tropical Cyclone Seroja has hit a number of areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia. As a result, hundreds of casualties and property fell.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said until Friday (9/4) night, the number of victims who died as a result of Cyclone Seroja in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was 165. Most of the victims came from East Flores with 71 people who died.

Head of BNPB, Lt. Gen. Doni Monardo, said that 165 people died in nine districts in NTT. In detail, 71 people from East Flores, 46 people from Lembata, 28 from Alor, Kupang City 6 people, 6 people from Malacca, 4 from Kupang Regency, 2 from Sabu Raijua, 1 from Sikka, and 1 from Ende.

Doni Monardo explained the latest data on Cyclone Seroja NTT on Friday night. BNPB noted that 45 people are still missing. They came from East Flores as many as five people, 22 people from Lembata, 13 people from Alor, and 5 people from Sabu Raijua. Then, 61 people from East Flores suffered minor injuries, 49 people from Lembata, two from Ngada, and 20 people from Belu also suffered minor injuries.

"A total of 132 people suffered minor injuries," said Doni Monardo.

The number of refugees was recorded at 15,531. In detail, as many as 1,389 people from East Flores, 5,468 people from Malacca, 2,35 people from Lembata, 628 from Kupang City, 80 people from West Sumba, 219 from East Sumba, 34 from Ende, 1,346 from Rote Ndao, 346 from Sabu Raijua, 678 from Timor Tengah Selatan, 299 from Alor, 1,842 from Kupang, 600 from Belu, 156 from Timor Tengah Utara.

BNPB also noted that a total of thousands of houses spread across the 11 affected districts/cities were also damaged.

A total of 2,786 houses were severely damaged, 213 houses were moderately damaged, and 6,185 houses were slightly damaged.
