REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Sports Performance Management expert Djoko Pekik Irianto appreciates the success of last week's U-17 World Cup, both in terms of organization and performance of the Indonesia U-17 National Team.
Djoko Pekik agreed that the U-17 World Cup was a success, especially in the organizational aspect. Apart from that, the Indonesian U-17 national team also played quite well. This has been a valuable experience for the U-17 national team to reach even higher levels of achievement.
“Appreciation to the government and PSSI who have staged so well the U-17 World Cup. So it is our main capital in making efforts to host other events, including if Indonesia wants to host U-20 in 2025, this is the main capital to carry out world events,” Djoko Pekik, told Republika on Monday (4/12/2023).
Regarding the differences between the U-17 and U-20 World Cups, Djoko Pekik stated that the differences exist on FIFA requirements somewhat differently, but in general the match management is the same.
“We learn to overcome shortcomings or improve existing ones. The first step in the in-depth evaluation of the side that needs to be adjusted, so that if we propose to host the U-20 in 2025 we already have a good team, a good organizer,” he said.
“We must also pay attention to the readiness of the U-20 national team. If we bids to host the U-20 World Cup in 2025, it should be accompanied by the preparation of the U-20 national team, so it will be more successful than the previous U-17 national team,” he added.
