REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI together with the Indonesian Ulema Assembly (MUI), a number of National Amil Zakat Institutions (Laznas) and community organizations held a meeting with Bayt Zakat Wa As-Shadaqat of Egypt in preparation for distributing aid to the Palestinian community.

“Baznas RI together with partners consisting of MUI, Integrated Islamic Schools Network (JSIT), Rumah Zakat, and Laznas Zakat Indonesia Initiative (IZI) will send various kinds of assistance needed by the Palestinian community,” said Baznas RI Chairman Saidah Sakwan in remarks received in Jakarta, Thursday (7/12/2023).

He said Bayt Zakat Wa As-Shadaqat was a trusted zakat institution in Egypt and an institution under the auspices of Grand Sheikh Al Azhar. “This collaboration is a concrete step to support our brothers in Palestine. We hope that this cooperation can make a significant positive contribution to the well-being of the Palestinian people,” he said.

During the meeting with Bayt Zakat Wa As-Shadaqat, he said, he discussed related to the amount of aid that will be distributed to the Palestinians, starting from the number of trucks and the type of aid that will certainly be adapted to the needs of the Palestinian people.

MUI Secretary General Buya Amirsyah Tambangan expressed a commitment to help the Palestinian people fully. “We owe the Palestinians a favor for Indonesia's independence, so in this case we will also totally try to help our brothers in Palestine,” he said.

Sejken Bayt Zakat Wa As-Shadaqat of Egypt Maj. Gen. Amru Lutfi expressed his gratitude to Baznas RI and all partners for the cooperation done. “We will work together to build good relations through cooperation in the distribution of aid to the Palestinian people, and of course in accordance with the principles of

sharia,” he said.
