REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- The number 2 candidate, Prabowo Subianto said, has great power to win the 2024 presidential election in one round. Moreover, almost all pollsters put the Prabowo-Gibran pairing as potentially a one-round win.

“Our strength is huge. All surveys say that we have actually (won) one round,” Prabowo said during a speech at the Democratic Party's grand campaign event at Gajayana Stadium, Malang City, East Java, Thursday (1/2/2024) afternoon.

Even so, Prabowo asked all his supporters not to be caught off guard. He invited all supporters to come to the polls on February 14 to ensure Prabowo-Gibran's vote was in line with the current survey results.

“We must not be caught off guard. We must not relax. We all need to get to the polling stations on February 14th coming up. We have to guard the polling stations and we have to keep all the ballots,” the DPP general chairman of the Gerindra Party said.

A number of survey results show that Prabowo-Gibran's electability has reached 50 percent, which means that he already meets one of the conditions to win in one round. A recent survey from LSI Denny JA, for example, showed that the number 2 pair's selectivity rate breached 50.7 percent.

The requirement to win the presidential election in one round is to win 50 percent plus one vote and get at least 20 percent of the vote in 19 provinces. If no candidate reaches this threshold, the presidential election will proceed to a second round, which will be held in June 2024.
