REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- Vice presidential candidate No. 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka responded to the criticism thrown by PDIP politician Basuki Tjahaja Purnama aka Ahok who called himself unable to work. Ahok also made allusions to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as Gibran's father unable to work.
Gibran responded casually to the criticism. “Oh yes please, it is the citizens who judge,” Gibran said after meeting at the memorial event of Isra' Mi'raj at the UMS Edutorium, Solo City, Central Java, on Thursday (8/2/2024).
Gibran said that criticism of Ahok was common. Because he still considers Ahok a mentor as well as a senior in the world of politics. “Oh no what is ordinary, yes all the critical input especially from Mr. Ahok as our senior mentor yes we accept,” the mayor of Solo said.
Asked about how Ahok performed when he became the chief commissioner (comut) of PT Pertamina, Gibran said that his performance in the oil and gas state-owned enterprises was good. Even when he became deputy governor and governor of DKI, he praised, Ahok's performance was good. “Good good as long as governor deputy governor commissioner is good (all),” Gibran said.

The former politician of the Gerindra and Golkar Party was worried that suddenly Gibran ascended to the presidency due to certain circumstances. Ahok implied that Gibran could become president in place of Prabowo Subianto whose health is troubled.
“My 82-year-old mother can't argue with her mother, but President, if it's only two years, character tested if there is power, where is there proof Gibran can work as mayor, do you think Mr. Jokowi can work too?” Ahok said to the mother in a raised tone.
