Semarang Sea Embankment Project Targeted to End in August

The project is believed to be effective in tackling flooding and rob in Semarang.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono believes the flood and rob control program in Tambaklorok in Phase II, including the construction of levees, will be effective in dealing with flooding and flooding in Semarang, Java Middle. The 3.6-kilometer (km-long) marine levee project is slated to be completed in August.

“I think this will be a pilot as President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said because this area along Pantura needs to be addressed because it is also experiencing land subsidence, so not only Jakarta, but also Tegal, Pekalongan, Demak, including Semarang,” Minister Basuki said in his statement on Monday (17/6/2024).

Basuki on Monday accompanied President Jokowi to review the Flood Control and Rob Phase II Program and the Arrangement of the Fishermen's Village Area in Tambaklorok, Semarang.

“For this area of 56 hectares, we carried out the arrangement of the area as well as flood and rob control and at the moment everything has been closed so that there will be no more flooding and flooding in this Tambaklorok area,” Basuki said.
