Erick said he had met directly with a representative from J-League side Tetsuya Aida to discuss cooperation in advancing the Indonesia League. The J-League itself ranks second in the league quality ranking released by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), after Saudi Arabia at number one.

Erick said that cooperation with J-League sides is important to improve the quality of the Indonesian league, which in terms of ranking is still ranked 28th in Asia, while in Southeast Asia it is ranked sixth. Previously, PSSI has held a number of meetings with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) side in order to transform the league in the next year.

Erick asked PT LIB to undertake three strategic efforts, namely restructuring the management, synchronization of the league schedule with the national team, and running a marketing gathering. PSSI is also committed to reviving Liga 3 and presenting the Liga 4 competition managed through the Provincial Association of PSSI to give birth to young seeds for the future of Indonesian football.

On the other hand, PSSI also collaborates with police authorities to deal with various criminal offences including match fixing in domestic football competitions.

“We are committed to creating the best quality leagues at Southeast Asian as well as Asian level,” he said.
