REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- It is important to interpret the turn of the Hijri New Year with prayers and best wishes. As is known, the Hijri New Year 1446 or 1 Muharram coincides with Sunday 7 July 2024.
Thus, Saturday 6 July 2024 is also the end of 1445 Hijri in the Hijri calendar. It is recommended for every Muslim to say the final prayer of 1445 H. This prayer is read before Maghrib on Saturday (6/7/2024) with the hope that Allah SWT will forgive past sins.
After finishing reading the end of year prayer, continue with reading the prayer for the beginning of 1446 H. With the hope that Allah SWT will bestow mercy, protection, safety, health, sustenance and husnul khatimah
The following is a prayer for the end of 1445 H and the beginning of 1446 H. Quoted from the book Maslakul Akhyar written by Habib Usman bin Yahya Al Alawi.
The End of Hijri Year Prayer
اَللّٰهُمَّ مَا عَمِلْتُ مِنْ عَمَلٍ فِي هٰذِهِ السَّنَةِ مَا نَهَيْتَنِي عَنْهُ وَلَمْ أَتُبْ مِنْهُ وَحَلُمْتَ فِيْها عَلَيَّ بِفَضْلِكَ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِكَ عَلَى عُقُوْبَتِيْ وَدَعَوْتَنِيْ إِلَى التَّوْبَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِ جَرَاءَتِيْ عَلَى مَعْصِيَتِكَ فَإِنِّي اسْتَغْفَرْتُكَ فَاغْفِرْلِيْ وَمَا عَمِلْتُ فِيْهَا مِمَّا تَرْضَى وَوَعَدْتَّنِي عَلَيْهِ الثَّوَابَ فَأَسْئَلُكَ أَنْ تَتَقَبَّلَ مِنِّيْ وَلَا تَقْطَعْ رَجَائِيْ مِنْكَ يَا كَرِيْمُ
Latin:
Allahumma maa 'alimtu min 'amali fiy hadzihis sanati ma nahaytaniy 'anhu walam atub minhu wa halumta fiyha 'alaya bifadhlika Ba'da qudrotika 'ala 'uquunatiy wada'autaniy ilat taubati min ba'di jarooatig 'ala ma'syiyatika fainniys taghfartuka faghfirliy wa maa 'amiltu fiyha mimma tardho wawa'adtaniy 'alaihitsawaaba faaas aluka An tataqobbala minniy walaa taqto' rojaaiy Minka yaa kariim.
Translation:
My Lord, I ask forgiveness for my actions this year which You have forbidden - while I have not had time to repent, my actions which You have forgiven because of Your mercy - while You are able to torture me, and the actions (sin) which You have commanded to repent - while I have attacked them. means disobeying You. My Lord, I hope that You accept my actions that You are pleased with this year and my actions that are promised Your reward. Don't make me despair. O Most Gracious God.
Beginning of the Hijri Year Prayer
Quoted from Imam Suyuthi in the Book of Jami Al Kabir:
اَللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ الأَبَدِيُّ القَدِيمُ الأَوَّلُ وَعَلَى فَضْلِكَ العَظِيْمِ وَكَرِيْمِ جُوْدِكَ المُعَوَّلُ، وَهٰذَا عَامٌ جَدِيْدٌ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ، أَسْأَلُكَ العِصْمَةَ فِيْهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَأَوْلِيَائِهِ، وَالعَوْنَ عَلَى هٰذِهِ النَّفْسِ الأَمَّارَةِ بِالسُّوْءِ، وَالاِشْتِغَالَ بِمَا يُقَرِّبُنِيْ إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى يَا ذَا الجَلَالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
Latin:
Allahumma antal abdiyul qodiymul awaalu wa 'ala fadhlikal 'adzimi wakarimi Judikal mu'awaal, wa hadzal 'aamun Jadiydun qod aqbala. Asalukal 'ismata fiyhi minas saythooni wa awliyaaih. Wal 'auna 'ala hadzihin nafsil ammaroti bissuui, wal isytighooli bimaa yuqrobuniy ilaika zulfaa yaa dzaljalaali wal ikhroomi
Translation:
My God, You are the Eternal, Qadim, and the Beginning. By Your great grace and Your noble mercy, You are the door of hope. This new year has arrived. I seek refuge in You from the temptations of the devil and his guardians this year. I also hope for Your help in overcoming the desires that often drive me to act evil. To You, I ask for guidance so that my daily activities bring me closer to Your grace. O God, Owner of Greatness and Glory.
