REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- Acting Governor of Central Java (Jateng) Nana Sudjana said that the Jateng Provincial Government wants to develop the sharia economy. This will be done by strengthening the halal value chain or halal supply chain.
Nana revealed that in an effort to support the finance and economy of sharia in Jateng, the Jateng Provincial Government has established a Sharia Economic and Finance Regional Committee (KDEKS) in April 2023. The committee comprises local governments, vertical agencies, academics, practitioners of the financial services industry, and Islamic philanthropic organizations.
“The Central Java Provincial Government together with KDEKS would like to pay special or serious attention to developing the sharia economy, including through strengthening the halal value chain or halal supply chain in the Central Java region,” Nana said while attending the “National Seminar: Reading Sharia Economics and Finance in the New Government of Indonesia” held by Diponegoro University (UNDIP) on Wednesday (11/9/2024).
He explained that in order to create a halal supply chain, the Jateng Provincial Government established halal, safe, and healthy culinary zones in several areas such as Surakarta, Purwokerto, Tegal, and the Grand Mosque area of Jateng. “And we will continue to develop this,” he said.
In addition, Nana said Jateng Province is also developing the potential of Muslim-friendly tourism, strengthening sharia finance, and strengthening MSMEs as the main drivers of halal supply chain products. The Jateng Provincial Government also organized the “Jateng Halal Vaganza”, which is a series of roadshows and exhibitions to promote the sharia economy and an event for MSMEs to showcase halal products to the community.
“In addition, we cooperate with Baznas Central Java in utilizing waqf and infak funds for the development of halal MSMEs,” Nana said.
Nana hopes that, through these measures, the economy and finance of sharia in Jateng can develop positively. “So it supports Indonesia as the center of the world sharia economy,” he said.
