REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Some time ago, the Indonesian Ulama Assembly (MUI) paid a visit to Yayasan Dakwa Islamiyah Malaysia (YADIM) in Jabatan Kemapan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. MUI Chairman of Dakwah and Ukhuwah KH Cholil Nafis said that the visit was warm and familiar.
The delegation from the homeland was received by the Chairman of Yadim, Datuk Hasanudin bin Yunus, along with his staff. According to Kiai Cholil Nafis, the two sides discussed various issues in the meeting. Among them is the plan to organize a conference of da'wah in Southeast Asia.
“A lot of things were discussed and discussed in that meeting. Among other things, about the planned conference of dawah in Southeast Asia. It will be implemented in Malaysia at the beginning of 2025,” Kiai Cholil told Republika on Saturday (9/11/2024).
He explained that the conference will discuss efforts to maximize the functioning of Shia Islam in Southeast Asia. For example, da'wah in the border area of RI-Malaysia and between countries in ASEAN. Then, plans to strengthen da'wah in Muslim minority countries and training for quality improvement in countries.
“In ASEAN, of course, we will have more interfaith dialogue and strengthening the capacity of the Dai to disseminate the Wasathiyah proclamation,” he said.
In addition, Kiai Cholil continued, the conference will discuss strengthening peace in Southeast Asia. Last but not least, the participants will also discuss the Israeli colonization of Palestinian land and the strengthening of inter-religious harmony.
“If Palestine, of course in addition to humanitarian aid we will push for a ceasefire and facilitate peace dialogue with a two-state solution, a two-state solution,” Kiai Cholil said.
The caretaker of Pondok Pesantren Cendikia Amanah in Depok, West Java, hopes that in the future Indonesia and Malaysia can be at the forefront in moving the harmony of dawah in Southeast Asia.
“Hoping that Indonesia and Malaysia will be the main drivers of the harmony of the declaration in the countries of ASEAN. Inspiring Dakwah and wasathiyah (moderate),” explains Kiai Cholil.
