REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono said about 200,000 imported dairy cows will arrive by the end of 2025 to support the fulfillment of milk in the menu of the free nutritious meal program (MBG). The regulation in the form of government regulation (PP) governing the import of imported dairy cows has been completed, so procurement does not only come from Australia.
“This is a new PPP that we can enter from some additional countries besides Australia and other registered countries. We're adding in other countries. We hope that in 2025 this will enter 200,000 (cows) by the end of the year,” Sudaryono said during a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/1/2025).
Sudaryono explained that his agency is also accelerating the provision of ranchers' land to house the dairy cows.
On the other hand, he affirmed that this procurement of imported dairy cows is a form of investment in order for Indonesia to have a fresh dairy factory.
“What is clear is that this is not an importing country, but people are investing. It is possible to build a factory, in Indonesia it is possible to create a dairy factory with the cows brought,” he said.
He added that 160 domestic and foreign companies had already expressed their commitment to procuring these imported dairy cows.
