REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, will visit Indonesia on September 18-20, 2013. The visit will focus on deepening UK bilateral relations including in trade and investment, science and innovation as well as education.
According to a written statement from British Embassy in Jakarta, during his visit, Prince Andrew will meet Vice President Prof Dr Boediono, Co-ordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa and Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan. The prince will also attend a number of public events, including the launch of the GREAT Britain week in Senayan City.
“The UK is firmly committed to strengthening further our excellent relationship with Indonesia," the statement quoted British Ambassador to Indonesia, Mark Canning.
The ambassador added that British prime minister visit to Jakarta and the state visit by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to the UK last year did a huge amount to deepen the UK-Indonesia relationship.
"Both leaders agreed a target of doubling the trade by 2015 to 4.4 billion pounds. The visit by His Royal Highness the Duke of York will build on the momentum of these historical events, and substantially strengthen the UK relationship with Indonesia," he said.
