REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned on Monday the recent deadly attack on Pakistani pilgrims' buses in southwestern province of Balochistan.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the terrorist action against innocent people of any ethnicity and religion, and hopes for required steps to be adopted to prevent the repetition of such terrorist measures against defenseless people," Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham was quoted as saying by Press TV.

On Sunday night, some unidentified gunmen attacked two buses outside a hotel in the Taftan area of Chaghi, a district near Pakistan-Iran border. The attack killed at least 24 people and injured several others, who were among members of a convoy of ten buses carrying Shiite pilgrims from Iran to Quetta.

No group or militant organization has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

In another incident at least four people including three soldiers and a child were killed and a dozen others injured when a suicide blast hit an army check post in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Monday, officials said.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the mouthpiece of the Pakistani army, said in a statement that the paramilitary troops Frontier Corps personnel came under attack when they were setting up a small checkpoint near Boya check post in North Waziristan agency, a tribal area located at the Pakistan-Afghan border.

The suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the checkpoint, killing three soldiers and a passerby child, and injuring 12 others including two women, said the ISPR.

The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

Security forces cordoned off the area following the attack and all main roads near the check post were closed for traffic.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
