REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, has conveyed her appreciation to her German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, welcoming Germany's participation as an observer in the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) meeting.
Indonesia has expressed its support for Germany during the Ministerial Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), according to a press release received here on Saturday.
The German Foreign Minister had visited Indonesia under President Joko Widodo's administration. At the bilateral meeting, the German Foreign Minister invited his Indonesian counterpart Retno LP Marsudi to visit Germany in early 2016.
Furthermore, the two ministers also discussed the issue of grant of visa-free facilities to Indonesians holding diplomatic passports in Germany. The Indonesian Foreign Minister expected progress on visa-free policy during the discussions.
In addition, both ministers also discussed a number of global challenges, including the issue of making arrangements for migrating refugees and other migrants from the Middle East.
Migrants from the Middle East have become a major issue that the European countries are facing.
Marsudi also conveyed an invitation to the German government to participate in the meeting of the Bali Democracy Forum which will be held in Bali from December 10 to December 11, 2015.
