Denigration towards Islam and its sacred symbols surprisingly has positive impact for Muslim. Really? Yes, indeed. Such act brings more awareness and love of Muslim towards the Prophet Muhammad. The Chairman of Rabithah Alawiyah Indonesia, Abdullah As-Saggaf, said the moment should have become “A day of love for the God’s messenger”.

He said that the value Prophet Muhammad would be higher if Muslim could imitate the beautiful moral of Rasulullah PBUH when he was mocked and insulted. "Thus, do not hold anarchic demonstration," he said.

When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was mocked, he never replied. Instead, he forgave them. As-Saggaf said that Islam came by grace not only for Muslim, but also for all people.

Emphasizing that retaliation was not the right solution, he said the alternative of the best solution was to boycott the products from the countries insulting Rasulullah.

Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Ali Mustafa Yaqud, said the cases of denigration generated a good effect, mainly on spreading Islam. For instance, after the attack of September 11, 2001 when Islam came under the spotlight in negative term, many more Americans studied Islam. It also affected to the surge population of Muslim in the country.

Yaqud also pitied the anarchic act. "Anarchism is the goal of the enemies of Islam," he said. Muslim must prevent such inappropriate act. He recognized that the anger of a number of Muslims was also triggered by unstable politic and economy in their home countries.

(QS. Asy-Syura ayat 14)
