REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JOMBANG -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla is expected to attend a function which will be held to observe the death of former president Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) here next Saturday.
"We have received confirmation that the Vice President will attend the commemoration ceremony (which will be held at Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School complex) in Jambang on December 26, 2015, Lukman of the Tebuireng Islamic school, said here on Tuesday.
He said that the preparations for the holding of Gus Dur's haul(death commemoration) were now ripe. The committee has made the necessary agenda such as invitations and preparations for receiving guests.
Lukman said that a number of ministers were also expected to accompany the Vice President during the haul ceremony in Jombang, including Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin.
A number of ulemas (Muslim scholars) such as Al-Anwar Sarang Rembang Boarding Islamic School leader KH Maimun Zubiar, Muslem cleric KH Jamaluddin Ahmad and other Muslim leaders are also scheduled to attend the haul ceremony.
The East Java governor and military leaders will also attend the haul function.
