IFW features Indonesian traditional textiles

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Muslim wear seems toning up the Indonesian Fashion Week (IFW). They come in various models, pattern, and fabrics. The mix and match of Indonesian traditional cloths also enliven the Muslim wear. Batik, tenun, and songket are featured prominently in IFW.

Ina Priyono is one of the Muslim wear designers presenting simple and modest theme for her design. She adds a touch of batik to her collections. “We choose batik because it is beautiful and pretty. Its beautiful pattern matches perfectly with good fabrics. The Muslim wear can look simple yet beautiful with batik,” Business Development Manager Ina Priyono, Handoko, said. 

He added, the brand uses batik from Semarang in some fashion items. Ina Priyono sends scarpandan theme down the runway. Scarpandan is muslim wear made from pandan fabric and combined with batik.

Alphiana Chandrajani delivers Across Khatulistiwa theme by presenting Indonesian traditional cloths like songket and batik. “I use the Indonesian genuine fabric,” Chandajani said. “In the near future, I will use tenun cloth,” she added.
