'Deadly' football matches cost eight lives within three months

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Three football fans died last night in Gelora Bung Karno Stadion after watching Football competition Indonesia Super League (LSI) between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung. Earlier on March, five football supporters of Persebaya died in Lamongan after other supporters throw some rocks to their train. They died after falling from the roof of the train.

Meanwhile, three fans died last night. One of them is Lazuardi (29) from Menteng who died after being tormented in Senayan East Park. Two others who did not wear any attributes of supporters still remain unknown.

"Three died and four other injured," said authorities in Tanah Abang Police Office, Amin.

The Spokesman of Jakarta Police Department, Rikwanto, said on Monday that police still investigated the two unknown bodies. Both were found in Senayan Basket Hall at 20.45 with another injured victim named Rinaldi.

"Police still investigate the reasons of the attack," Rikwanto said.
