Erick Thohir leads Indonesian Contingent in Olympics

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON – Chef de Mission Olympics of Indonesian Contingent, Erick Thohir, leads Indonesian contingent in the defile at opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012 on Friday. Held in Olympics Stadium, Erick walked in front of the line with Indonesian swimming athlete I Gede Siman Sudarwata who was chosen to hold Indonesian flag.

Siman said that he was proud to hold Indonesian flag in London Olympics. “I am proud to bring Indonesian flag,” he said before the ceremony.

Siman specializes in backstroke style. He won four gold medals in SEA Games 2011 and broke two records of 100-meter backstroke with only 55.59 second on the same event.

Indonesia sends its 22 athletes to London Olympics 2012 competing in eight branches of sports, fencing, archery, athletic, badminton, shooting, swimming, judo, and weightlifting.
