Pertamina to acquire eight blocks in Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina makes another expansion conducted by its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Hulu Energy (PHE). The company plans to acquire eight blocks of oil and gas, apart from Blok SK 305 in Serawak, Malaysia.

Executive Director of PHE, Salis S Aprilian, said on Friday, the eight blocks were located in Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Pertamina has the authority to select the block.

In the first semester of 2012, PHE has produced 63,000 barrel oil per day (BOPD). The production of PHE is expected to increase on 29,000 BOPD with new acquirement. PHE currently has eight blocks in seven countries. Pertamina has also participated with Block VIC in Australia, Block 3 in Qatar, Block 13 in Sudan, Block 13WD in Iraq, Block 17-3 and Block 123-3 in Libya.
