REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEOUL - Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Mari Elka Pangestu, invited Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) to make Indonesian local animated characters as an effort to develop creative economy.
CEO KOCCA, Hong Sang Pyo, said that the agency was ready to help and support the development of Indonesian creative industry. Minister Pangestu said the opportunity to develop animated industry in Indonesia was quite big. The animation market in Indonesia is currently dominated by imported animated characters.
"Ninety percent animation in Indonesian television is imported," she said on Monday in Seoul, South Korea.
She said that Indonesia also had big market for games, films, and music. "Almost 30 million young people have a keen interest interested in games," she said. The development of creative industry in Indonesia, she said, emphasized on the optimization of vast domestic market.
