REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The new Indonesian Ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu, Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, officially start his assignment, marked by the presentation of his Letters of Credentials from the President of the Republic of Indonesia to Australia’s Head of State, Governor General Quentin Bryce at her official residence in Government House in Canberra on Wednesday.
Ambassador Kesoema conveyed the warm greetings of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, according to a press release obtained by Republika.
Kesoema reiterated the Indonesian Government’s commitment to continue the good relations which have been achieved in the last few years between Australia and Indonesia.
He noted that never before has the bilateral relations been this close throughout Indonesia’s history, ever since the time when Australians pushed away Dutch colonialist warships arriving in Sydney to restock their supplies in 1945 and 1948, as a sign of solidarity with the freedom fighters fighting for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Governor Bryce mentioned the need for more cooperation and exchange between two countries including between women’s associations.
