REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Head of Center Study for Economy and Public Policy of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Tony Prasetiantono, said that the upcoming minister of finance after will face three challenges.
"The first challenge is to ensure President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono about subsidy for energy," Prasetiantono said on Wednesday. The subsidy for energy this year reaches 320 trillion IDR, surpassing the ceiling in 2013 state budget, which is 274.7 trillion IDR.
"This is non-sense and interrupting fiscal sustainability," he said. He suggests government to reduce the subsidy for fuel.
The second is low absorption of state budget among ministries and state institutions. Govenment, he said, should control the working schedule and auction process of project by the ministries and institutions.
The third challenge is an increase of tax revenue from the achievement in 2012. The aim is to reduce state debt to finance state budget.
