REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Director of General of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at Ministry of Industry, Euis Saedah said fashion and handicrafts are the dominant subsector which contributed to economy, both in added values, employment, number of companies and exports.
"The added value which is generated by fashion and craft subsectors are respectively 44.3 percent and 24.8 percent of total contribution in creative industries," Saedah said at Indonesia Fashion and Craft Exhibition 2013 in Jakarta.
In term of labor absoption rates, the growth of both sumsectors reach 54.3 percent and 31.13 percent respectively. While the growth of business units each 51.7 percent and 35.7 percent in each subsector.
Saedah added the growth of creative industries should be supported by six pillars namely human resources, industry, technology, resources, institutions and financial institutions.
Meanwhile, Indonesia Fashion and Craft Exhibition 2013 is held in Convention Center in Jakarta on June 27-30, 2013. The exhibition are attended by 150 participants, including 79 independent private SMEs and 71 SMEs of formed by state-owned companies.
