Govt of Jakarta to send its athletes abroad

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Provincial government of Jakarta will soon send some athletes to get training abroad to increase their skill and ability.

"We expect them to increase their achievement because they will get great coach and good rival match abroad," Vice Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said on Friday.

Sumo atheletes for example, will be sent to Japan, while gymnastics to Eastern Europe and football athletes will be sent to Brazil. Purnama said the program would use fund from regional budget.

Government of Jakarta wanted to give the best to its athletes as a model of city in Indonesia, Purnama said after a meeting with management of National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) at his office.

Chairman of KONI in Jakarta, Winny Erwindia said KONI had received budget worth 107 billion IDR until today. KONI would propose additional budget for the training program.
