REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A total of 25 mining companies finally signed renegotiation contract with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Among them are six companies holding mining contracts and 19 companies holding coal contracts of work (PKP2B).
The signing were represented by Director General of Mineral and Coal, R Sukhyar and board of directors, witnessed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik. There are six strategic issues renewed in the contract, including working area, mining operation sustainability, revenues, obligation of domestic processing and refining, divestment obligation, the use of local labor, goods and services.
Wacik explained that Indonesian government had not intention to break the preciously agreed contracts. This renegotiation aimed to carry out the constitutional mandate and law of mineral and coal for people welfare.
Wacik admitted, the contract of renegotiation wasnot easy to be implemented as it needed time and good approach, also the role of all involving parties.
