REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National tax revenue per April 28, 2014 has reached 281.7 trillion IDR out of 1,110.2 trillion IDR of total target of the year. It increased 25.38 percent, higher than 249.6 trillion IDR in same period last year, based on data from Directorate General of Taxation in Ministry of Finance.
About 151.2 trillion of tax revenue was collected from non-oil and gas income tax, while 109.1 trillion IDR from value added tax and luxury tax. Director General of Taxation Fuad Rahmany explained that the total tax also came from property tax (861.5 billion IDR), oil and gas income tax (19.1 trillion IDR) and other taxes (1.5 trillion IDR).
An increase in tax revenue was due to non-oil income tax that rose 16.39 percent over same period last year.
"Non-oil and gas income tax grew better than last year, both individually and corporate. It was a positive result that it could reach 16 percent of growth," Rahmany said recently.
Rahmany expected a revision of tax revenue in state budget 2014 though it recorded a good performance due to current global economic condition. He said the target was still too high because the assumption of economic growth would not be as the expectation coupled by an increase in government spending and budget deficit.
