Indonesian inflation slightly hikes in October

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Inflation rose to 0.47 percent in October from 0.27 percent in the previous month as the electricity and gas prices increased, the statistics agency said. As per year, inflation rose to 4.83 percent in October compared to last month 4.53 percent.

The Head of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Suryamin said that electricity and gas prices increased 4.42 percent. "It is in line with government's plan to decrease electricity and gas subsidies," Suryamin said on Monday, Nov 3.

Other goods also play the role in increasing the inflation. Red pepper is among the foods contributing the inflation. Suryamin said the price of red pepper increased 40.52 percent due to drought.

Drought also cause the price of rice, Indonesian food staple, to hike. The price of rice increases slightly by 0.78 percent.
