REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Financial Services Authority (OJK) established cooperation with two largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, namely Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah, to develop sharia capital markets.
Deputy Director of Directorate of Sharia Capital Markets of OJK, Muhammad Touriq, said that with a large membership, NU and Muhammadiyah are believed to increase the market share of sharia capital markets.
He cited, Muhammadiyah has a financial institution called Baitul Tamwil of Muhammadiyah. It might invest in sharia capital market if it excess liquidity.
"The potential is huge. We continue to disseminate to the NU and Muhammadiyah about sharia capital market," said Touriq, in Jakarta, Tuesday (29/9).
Touriq said, OJK had often hold seminars on sharia capital markets with NU or Muhammadiyah. In addition, OJK also conducted training to NU and Muhammadiyah members.
"We held training for trainers. We hope of NU and Muhammadiyah members can disseminate information about the advantages of investing in sharia capital market," he added.
