Toriq turns himself to police

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The terrorist suspect, Muhammad Toriq (32 years) finnaly turned himself to local police on Sunday afternoon. His appearance before the police also answered a number of speculations surrounded the blast in Depok, outskirt of Jakarta, on Saturday night. 

The spokeperson of Jakarta police,  Rikwanto, confirmed that Toriq had surrendered to police post at Jembatan Lima, Jakarta, at 5.30 pm.  The local police then turned the case to the Jakarta police headquarter to continue their investigation.    

Rikhwanto explained, Toriq’s surrender also confirmed the fact that he was not among the victims of Depok blast. Yet, the police officer could not confirm Toriq’s involvement in the Depok case. “We need to investigate further,” he said. 

Rikhwanto then added that police had not drawn any conclusion about his connection to some other terrorist networking. So far he was suspected to own some explosive material in his residence at Tambora, West Jakarta.
