REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The third Indonesian president, BJ Habibie said moment of Eid al-Fitr 1434 Hijr should serve as new beginning for Indonesian development. Using religion as an excuse of conflict was unacceptable, he said. Habibie admitted that conflict sometimes was inevitable in a change process.
"It is not religious conflict, hence do not blame religion," he said during Eid al Fitr's open house this week.
He emphasized the importance of forgiveness and learning from our mistakes to move forward for better future. Indonesians, he said, should avoid discrimination towards different ethnic, religious, racial, or social background.
He asked Indonesian people to forgive each other to start a new beginning and keep Indonesia united. "The country can move forward to build a dynamic modern state according to the Constitution," Habibie said.
Habibie added to build new Indonesia, this country must controll its human resources quality. Hence, Indonesian can use its natural resources as capital to fund its education, culture and qualified human resources.
