REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has indicted Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah with 10 year prison and a fine of 250 million IDR with five month subsidiary. The claims were submitted by prosecutor, Edy Hartoyo at Corruption Court in Jakarta on Monday.
Other sanctions are criminal disenfranchisement and right to contest election. Atut gave a bribe of 1 billion IDR to Akil Mochtar, former chairman of Constitutional Court. The suit is based on Article 6, Paragraph 1, Law No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code on giving or promising anything to the judge to affect a decision.
"The most severe case, the defendant as Banten governor did not show good behaviour to support government program to clean the corruption, collusion and nepotism. The defendant erodes law enforcement and the judiciary, especially the Constitutional Court and she did not confess her action," Hartoyo said on Monday.
For the mitigation, the defendant is being polite and she has never been charged. According to Hartoyo, Chosiyah as member of Golkar party central board and senior politican must give good behaviour, but in fact, she committed a bribery case in the Court.
