REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama is optimistic to hold the event of Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta.
He delivered it directly after attending the opening ceremony of Asian Games 17 in Incheon, South Korea last week.
"Our preparation must be good. We prove people that we can do it," Purnama said at City Hall, Central Jakarta on Monday.
According to him, Indonesia the last time hosted the international sporting competition in 1962 or 56 years ago. Therefore, he hopes that Indonesia can re-host the next Asian Games. This opportunity must be utilized, which indicated that Indonesia has changed.
The Gerindra party cadre said that Indonesia could present a good performance for the next Asian Games, like South Korea or more than that. Purnama flew to Incheon last week to witness the opening ceremony.
"Actually in my opinion, the Asian Games 16 in Guangzhou, China was better than South Korea, but Korea used high technology and a remarkable effects. They have projector with great lights. It was great. I am more optimistic that Jakarta will be better than that," he said. C66/Mutia Ramadhani
