REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ten bodies of the victims of AirAsia QZ8501 have been found until Friday, Chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Rear Marshal F. Henry Bambang Soelistyo stated here on Friday (2/1).

"Until now, ten bodies have already been found, eight already sent to Surabaya and two still at Pangkalan Bun," he noted at the Basarnas headquarters.

The two bodies at Pangkalan Bun will soon be taken for an autopsy in Surabaya where the plane took off before losing contact with the air traffic control over the Java Sea.

The search team has, so far, also discovered some debris of the aircraft, he reported.

He emphasized that the search to locate the fuselage will be focused on an area spanning 1,575 square miles and will involve three ships equipped with sonar instruments.

"The operations of Baruna Jaya, MV Geo Survey, and KN Jadayat vessels will be focused on the area believed to be the location of the fuselage," he added.
