REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director of Society Synergy for Indonesia Democracy (Sigma) Said Salahudin assessed the composition of the political parties in the cabinet needs to be changed if President Joko Widodo to reshuffle the cabinet to make it more equitable.

"As the main party bearer President Jokowi, and owner of most seats in DPR (House of Representatives), should give more quotas for minister from PDIP,"said Said Salahudin, on Saturday, May 16.

Salahudin explained that the party representation in the cabinet could not be avoided. Therefore, as the winner of the election, the minister quota for PDIP could not be equated with other bearer party whixh have fewer seats in DPR, such as National Democratic (Nasdem) Party and Nation Awakening Party (PKB).

PDIP has 109 seats in Parliament, while PKB only has 47 seats, Nasdem Party and People’s Conscience Party (Hanura) only 35 seats, and 16 seats.

"Therefore, it is natural that the number of representation from PDIP in the Working Cabinet increased to six or seven ministers. PKB may remain four ministers, but Nasdem Party whose support is smaller just enough for three ministers and Hanura still two ministers," he said.

Salahudin said that the reshuffle seems to be the only option for President Jokowi to improve the performance and success of the government.
