REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Communication and Information System Security Research Centre (CISSReC), Pratama Persadha, advised members of the selection committee (Pansel) of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) not to use foreign-made information systems on the selection process for the commissioners. They are advised to use local information systems to minimize the risk of interception of information.

"The risk of information interception is vulnerable, either through telephone communication, sms, email and data storage. Previously, the interception was occurred on Team 9 when resolving KPK’s conflicts with the National Police. If the current selection committee still using foreign-made information system, it should not be continued until the commissioner selection process is over," said Pratama when contacted by ROL, on Tuesday, May 26.

For a while, he continued, selection committee members were advised to use the information systems made in Indonesia. According to him, locally made information systems much safer compared to foreign-made.

"Moreover, in case of leakage of information, it could be traced directly to its conclusion. Investigation is obviously more difficult to do when using foreign-made information system," he added.
