REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The construction of eco-friendly infrastructure needs investment cooperation from all sides, including from contractors and financers, according to Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
"Besides to maintain the environment, we need cooperation particularly in the investment and financial sector so that efforts towards green investment run smoothly," he said while opening the Indonesia Green Infrastructure Summit 2015 here on Tuesday.
He added that there were still several shortcomings in the management of various sectors, including infrastructure, nature and river preservation, and eco-friendly agriculture.
"In the interest of these fields, we need to improve and implement programs drastically," Kalla emphasized.
The vice president further noted that the current government's plan for the environment was based on sustainable economic principles.
Eco-friendly infrastructure, such as roads, ports, water resources and electricity, refer to this system of sustainability.
Moreover, efforts towards developing renewable energy and bringing supporting measures into effect are aimed at the development of a clean environment, he remarked.
"This will need cooperation with the government, communities and the World Bank to guide development in this direction, bearing in mind the interests of all," Kalla stated.
