REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Representative of Commission III of House of Representative (DPR) Desmond J. Mahesa asserted that the law enforcement officials should have the right to conduct wiretaps. Three law enforcement agencies, namely the police, prosecutors and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should have the authority to be able to tap in running every day work.
"Police, prosecutors, and KPK, all of them have the authority, but it must be clarified," he said at the Parliament complex in Senayan, on Thursday, June 25.
According to the politician Gerindra party, there must be rules in wiretapping authority by law enforcement officials. It means, it should be regulated the extent of wiretapping authority could be done, either by the KPK, the police and the prosecutor.
"Later, we'll gather the three institutions to discuss the wiretapping authority as to what they want," said Desmond.
Previously, Chief General Badrodin Haiti requested that the police must be given the authority to wiretap as KPK did.
