VP concerns with Makassar's former mayor corruption case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested a former official mayor of Makassar, South Sulawesi Ilham Arief Sirajuddin. Vice President Jusuf Kalla also concerned over the detention of Ilham Arief.

"Yes. I heard that, I'm sorry. It's pity," said JK in the Vice President's office Jakarta, on Friday, July 10.

As is known, Ilham Arief Sirajuddin became a suspect in the alleged corruption of cooperation to manage and transfer the installation of PDAM Makassar. He was arrested after examined by KPK investigators for approximately five hours.

Ilham detained in KPK's jail Pomdam Guntur for the first 20 days. He promised to follow any legal proceedings taken by the commission. He also appreciated the decision of the anti-corruption agency related to his arrest.

Ilham also previously had been filed pretrial. In fact, he had won the first lawsuit. But then, the commission issued a second investigation warrant (sprindik) and he became a suspect again.

Ilham re-named as a suspect in the last June 10, 2015. Determination of the suspect at this time was the second time.

The new warrant investigation issued after the pretrial of Ilham granted by the single judge Yuningtyas Upiek Kartikawati in South Jakarta District Court.
