REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- Central Java's Law and Human Rights Department has revealed that some 58 prisoners in the province will be set free after being granted remission on the occasion of the 2015 Idul Fitri or Lebaran holiday.
Local correctional institution division spokesman Yuspahruddin remarked here on Thursday that a total of 3,988 prisoners in Central Java will receive Idul Fitri remission this year.
"Of the total prisoners, 58 will breathe fresh air on Friday after obtaining remission," he remarked, adding that 3,988 inmates receiving remission were embroiled in common criminal cases.
However, Yuspahruddin noted that he was still awaiting an announcement regarding Idul Fitri remission for the prisoners involved in certain criminal cases such as corruption and drug abuse.
"This year, we propose remission for 931 inmates implicated in corruption and narcotics cases," he said.
