REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Communication and Information Technology officially announced the closure of 22 sites which commit piracy and copyright infringement of Indonesian films, Tuesday (18/8).
The 22 sites that were closed, are ganool.com, nontonmovie.com, bioskops.com, ganool.ca, kickass.to, thepiratebay.se, downloadfilmbaru.com, ganool.co.id, 21filmcinema.com, gudangfilm.faa.im, movie76.com, isohunt.to, cinemaindo.net, bioskop25.net, ganool.in, unduhfilm21.net, bioskopkita.com, downloadfilem.com, comotin.net, movie2k.ti, unduhmovie.com and 21sinema.com.
The closure of access to these sites was conducted in accordance with the recommendation of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in Law No.28/2014 on Copyright.
It was also stated in the Joint Rules of Ministry of Justice and Human Rights with Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Law No.14/2015 and No.26/2015 on Closure of Content and Access of Copyright Violation in Electronic System.
The closure was a follow-up complaints and reports of Film Producers Association of Indonesia on 15th August 2015, about sites which provide illegal films.
Minister of Communications and Information, Rudiantara, in a press conference with Minister of Justice and Human Right, Yassona Laoly, Tuesday (18/8), said that the closure is an attempt to tackle copyright infringement in cyberspace.
"The government is ready to protect the work of Indonesian artists. This closure is in line with joint rules between the Minister of Communication and Information Technology at the Ministry of Justice and Human Right, about copyright," he said.
