REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo said, at least 20,681 military personnel were deployed to back up the police. According to him, the personnel would assist the police in maintaining security and anticipating any threats until the end of the year.

"We deploy 20,681 personnel in all around Indonesia," he said, at the Cathedral Church, Thursday (24/12).

Gatot hoped, a conducive atmosphere could be maintained during Christmas and New Year holiday season. Until the end of the year, TNI focused on public and tourism security.

He said TNI would always be ready. If there was something untoward happens TNI was ready to be vanguard of Indonesia.
