REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The drop in some commodity prices has led to a sharp decline in trade between Indonesia and Hungary since 2011, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stated.

Kadin General Chairman Rosan P Roeslani made the statement here Monday, adding that the Indonesian key commodity exports to Hungary are, among others, the components of electronic appliances, printing machines and rubber.

On the other hand, Indonesian imports from Hungary include telecommunications equipment components, generators, engines and antibiotics.

Meanwhile, the visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Jakarta Monday.

Apart from that, Viktor Orban also met with Vice President Jusuf Kalla later in the day.

The economic cooperation between Indonesia and Hungary has not yet been maximized, and both countries should intensify such cooperation, Roeslani further said.

The two countries are also trying to step up an investment cooperation, according to him.

Indonesia has been exporting several commodities such as coffee, cocoa and rubber, according to Roeslani.

The data of the Eurostat study agency showed that trade between Indonesia and Hungary in the period 2010-2015 reached its highest value in 2011, amounting to 181.091 million euros.

Roeslani also expressed a hope that there would be direct flight from Indonesia to Hungary in an effort to step up trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
