REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The police is encountering difficulties in preventing the inflow of funds from the Middle East to finance terrorism in Indonesia, National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti stated.
"It is difficult to detect it," he claimed here on Tuesday.
This is because the police cannot verify the identities of the people sending the money to Indonesia, he pointed out.
"For instance, A transfers money from Syria. Since the identity of A is not known, so nobody knows who is A," he explained.
Badrodin said the police do not have the authority to ban money transfer service providers from receiving funds from the Middle East allegedly to finance terrorism.
"We cannot ban it. Neither do I know whether the funds come from terrorists," he added.
