REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prosecutors requested the judges to issue an interim order in the Wayan Mirna Salihin murder case involving the suspect Jessica Kumala Wongso.
"We request to entirely reject the demurrer filed by the defendant's legal team and for the court to proceed further in the case. We are also urging the judges to issue an interim order in this case," prosecutor Ardito Muwardi noted during the reading of his response to Jessica's demurrer at the Central Jakarta Court on Tuesday.
As part of the response, the prosecutor also stated that the indictment, bearing registration number PDM-203/JKT. PST/05/2016, dated May 30, 2016, with the defendant Jessica, has been arranged according to the Indonesian law.
"As a result, the indictment will act as the basis for the investigation into this case, and we are appealing to the judges to proceed with the examination of the case," Ardito emphasized.
In the meantime, presiding judge Kisworo delayed the court proceedings until Tuesday, June 28, with the reading of the interim order as the agenda.
Jessica underwent the first trial in the murder case of Mirna at the Central Jakarta Court on Wednesday, June 15. During the trial, with indictment reading being the agenda, prosecutors leveled charges of premeditated murder against Jessica.
The defendant is charged with premeditated murder of Mirna at the Olivier Cafe in the Grand Indonesia shopping mall in Central Jakarta on January 6.
Jessica's legal team has filed a demurrer with the judges as they admitted noticing several loopholes in Jessica's indictment, claiming it was based on suppositions.
