REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Commissioner General Suhardi Alius will focus on deradicalization and anti-radicalism.
He said Indonesia has steps to prevent and resolve them. He added, this country has resistance to radical concept.
"We will prioritize the concept of de-radicalization and anti-radicalism," Suhardi said after sworn in as Head of BNPT at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/7).
Suhardi said, de-radicalization will be done to people who have radical ideology like members of group of Santoso. While anti-radicalism need to be intensified so that no Indonesian people who involved into radicalism.
"We're going to maximize it. We will embrace all, including NGOs, community organizations that have the potential, including leaders of faith communities also engage to it," he said.
Suhardi admits, is not easy to change the mindset of someone who has radicalism doctrine. However, he will remain use persuasive approach, besides the enforcement.
