After having congregational prayer, a man stabs 2 policemen

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA --  Jakarta Metro Police Chief M Iriawan confirmed two policemen were injured after being stabbed by an unidentified man. The incident occured when the victims and perpetrator completed congregational Isha prayer at Falatehan mosque in Trunojoyo, South Jakarta, on Friday. 

The mosque located not far from the National Police headquarter.

"I've just came back from visiting the victims, Adjunct Commissioner Dede and First Brigadier Saiful Bahri of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob)," Iriawan said on Friday night.

Iriawan explained the two victims were wounded on their face and neck. 

According to Iriawan, the policemen were at the third row of the congregation. Soon after ending Isha prayer, the attacker who seat next to the right of police officers stabbed them using a bayonet. He then shout, "Thogut!"

"He aimed at the policemen's neck, but the victims tried to defend themselves and the bayonet landed on their right cheek. They are in a stable condition," Iriawan revealed after visiting the victims at RS Pusat Pertamina, Central Jakarta.

Spokesperson of National Police, Rikwanto, said the attacker was shot to death as he tried to run away. The police fired two warning shots, but the attacker who wore blue shirt and pants turned back, rised his knife, and shout "Allahu Akbar". "He was shot in the chest and head," Rikwanto said.

One of the witness, Edo who is a rented online motor driver said right after conclusion of Isha prayer, the congregation were disorganized by the incident. "The attacker had a knife and shouting "Allahu Akbar" while attacking the policemen. He tried to stab for two times," he said.

The police have not revealed the identity of the attacker. The body was sent to Police Hospital at Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.
